The Exumas are an archipelago of 365 cays and islands, beginning just 35 miles southeast of Nassau, an exotic collection of tiny jewels set in the most beautiful aquamarine and sapphire water you’ve ever imagined.
Great Exuma Island, together with the Exuma Cays offer an amazing variety of cruising possibilities due to the many hidden coves, bays, and harbours throughout.
Some of the islands on which there are permanent residents and resorts include Staniel Cay (home of the Staniel Cay Yacht Club, a fixture in the Exumas), Fowl Cay, Musha Cay and Iguana Cay. Thunderball Grotto, located just a few hundred yards off Staniel Cay, is one location where the James Bond film Thunderball was filmed. Sandy Cay, just a short boat ride from Little Exuma was the location used for filming the Pirates of the Caribbean.
Depending on the weather, you’ll meet STRAY either in the bustling hub of Nassau, or in the perfectly located Staniel Cay. After some time to get acclimated and do some provisioning, we’ll cast off heading East towards one of the most beautiful and pristine island chains in the world.
As we sail towards paradise through crystal clear waters, you’ll be mesmerized watching the boat’s shadow dance on the white sand. Wind & weather will dictate the itinerary, so every trip will be unique and exciting as we seek out the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation.
When you’re feeling adventurous, you can enjoy the exhilarating sailing, hunt for treasures on the beach, hike centuries old trails to historic ruins, go for a refreshing swim in crystal clear water, snorkel the gorgeous coral reefs, explore epic underwater caves, troll for blue water sport-fish, take the kayaks out for a spin, or take the dinghy ashore to meet the locals.
If you’re more into the serene, then immerse yourself in a good book, sunbathe in the forward trampolines, enjoy some great music with a nice cocktail, take a peaceful nap in the shade, or set up camp on a deserted white sand beach.
And, if you just can’t seem to relax, you’re more than welcome to do maintenance in the engine room, change oil filters, buff some gel coat, or re-finish some teak 🙂
STRAY is well maintained to the highest mechanical standards, with dedicated and continual attention paid to the safety and enjoyment of her guests. Tens of thousands of dollars per year is what it takes to make this a reality, and that alone should demonstrate the Captain & Crew’s commitment to deliver an excellent experience to every charter group that steps on board.
STRAY is well kept, and well equipped with a wide range of modern conveniences. Power is supplied to the yacht courtesy of the sun & wind via the on-board solar panels and wind generator. Fresh water is continually being generated by the built in reverse osmosis watermaker, which converts sea water into fresh water using high pressure pumps and super fine micro-filters. When it comes time to show off your culinary skills, you’ll be ‘cooking with gas’ in the galley, where the stove is propane powered, and out on the port-side decks, you’ll find a high quality stainless steel grill, just waiting for your choice cuts of meat, vegetables or, if your lucky, spiny lobster tails!
Life outdoors will become your norm as you continually explore new areas of the boat. A comfy spot here… a relaxing nap in the trampolines… dangling your feet in the water while at anchor… the wind on your face while sitting on the bow seats under sail… there are plenty of delightful discoveries waiting for you to make unforgettable memories. You’ll become curiously aware of the weather, winds, waters & sky as your primeval senses awaken and tune in to the natural world around you.
When you become a guest of STRAY, you become part of the STRAY family, and you can just relax and enjoy the experience of the wind, the water & the islands.
Aboard STRAY, you will truly ‘stray away from it all’ and be able to enjoy the opportunity to relax, unwind, and let someone else take care of the details!
